Thank You Patty for being so honest in telling your story. So Many Truths of what happens in destroying oneself for thoughts and misbeliefs someone throws at you. Also, so much truth with the family/friends dynamics, and how that all changes, and the person sits and wonders why… I did nothing to make this happen!!! Not a great feeling when friends choose someone over the other!!! Silly - absolutely no reason to choose, we are all here for each other!!! So much to learn in all of this !!! I was sitting on the edge of my seat reading … could not put it down, as the destruction was so familiar !!! Sometimes, there are many lives for us to live while we are here. I cheered for Patty and felt her pain as I read. I appreciate that she was brave enough to share her story. I wanted to scream at her that there is nothing wrong with her and her ex has a problem with himself-- no one else can fix it and time will repeat itself. The best revenge is living well and I'll buy the sequel.
I downloaded and read this book in a day and a half. It will have you in tears and laughing even at some points. It is the raw honest and brutal reality of the ending of a relationship. No divorce is ever pleasant, no matter how amicable, but to end a relationship from one day to the next is shocking. It is like being left with no explanation, no closure and no understanding of what just happened. My own divorce was painful, and it took be over 10 years to really recover. The other side of the darkness for Patty will be the light that she brings to all the other people who have gone through a painful separation. The book will keep you engrossed as Patty gives you a raw and honest window into her very private pain.

Wow! Just wow! Since the moment I began reading Wine, Sex and Suicide I couldn't put it down! I am struck by the bravery and courage it takes to write about something so intimate and so absolutely painful! Patty's honesty about her desperation and heartache touched me deeply. I've been changed and inspired by reading her account of her struggle to find her strength and herself. I feel stronger thanks to her words. I'm ready for her next book!
Ms. Hayes takes a painful experience (that most of us who have been married will go through divorce) and sticks her finger right into the wound, sharing with us the daily details of her angst. This strategy proved to have surprisingly therapeutic effects for me, recalling similar events and feelings with which likely only the newly separated and actively divorcing person can relate. As such, the book becomes a helpful, healing friend, even if those insane days have long since happily passed.
When Patty's life falls apart one day, she invites us into her world to sit beside her as all that she has known and valued crumbles around her. We are on the journey with her as she journals about the year that follows the unexpected breakup of her marriage, loss of her family, home, and identity. For those whose lives have been derailed by circumstances beyond their control, Patty's rocky year of raw emotion, inexplicable behavior, and pain might feel uncomfortably familiar. Patty courageously exposes herself on the page and in doing so shows us how we are all vulnerable, imperfect, frightened, and ultimately resilient. This genuine and inspirational book is perfect for anyone who has experienced a loss in his or her's life. It will help somebody to get through a divorce, a breakup or the death of someone close. It shows you that even in the darkest time, you are not alone!
I am happily married, but I really enjoyed reading Wine, Sex and Suicide. You don't need to be heartbroken to be touched and inspired by the spiritual path that the author Patty Blue Hayes initiates after her divorce. I absolutely love Los Angeles, so I really loved seeing the city through her eyes. I was very captivated by the way Ms Hayes talks about her relationship with others. She describes beautifully her feelings throughout the entire book; I could not put it down! I also have a lot of admiration for people who are able to show their dark side. Everyone could relate with what Patty Blue Hayes talks about in this diary style book.
